One of Gilkes biggest strengths is the depth of our in-house hydro knowledge that we have grown over the many years from design, supply, operating and ongoing maintenance of hydro equipment in the field. We pride ourselves in supporting our customers wherever they are in the world.
With the growth of internet availability to even the remotest of locations around the world through 3G,4G,5G and satellite broadband we are able to remotely support customers via Team Viewer, internet video conference calls and our own remote monitoring solution “Hydroview”. This provides us with direct access into the PLC/HMI data to help get to the cause of the problem quickly and detailed access to review the schemes current performance data.
Should a solution not be possible remotely via Technical Support then combined with Gilkes Breakdown Cover we are able to offer our customers a prioritised response with an engineer on site in the UK within 24hours of the problem being reported. Unplanned downtime is lost generation revenue. Having Gilkes Breakdown Cover will provide peace of mind and assurance that you are on the fastest path to get your plant back generating.
However well maintained a hydro scheme is there will always be an unplanned mechanical/electrical failure of a system component. Gilkes can tailor a bespoke Strategic Spares package that will ensure you have the essential parts available onsite should they be needed quickly in the event of a breakdown and access to Gilkes factory held inventory.

Support of our international customers requires a dedicated approach and we would ask you to contact us directly to discuss your support requirements or assistance with any on site issues or breakdowns. We will do our upmost to assist you remotely in the first instance before exploring the need for a site visit.
Gilkes can provide access solutions to enable you to monitor the performance of your turbine remotely. This can be done by 3G, 4G, 5G, landline or satellite broadband. This enables an email/text message to notify you of any alarm or trip ensuring you stay informed and up to date.
We can also offer our cloud-based “HydroView” monitoring system which is suitable for single or multi scheme operators.
