CORROUR ESTATE CELEBRATES COMPLETED HYDRO DEVELOPMENT

On Sunday 25th August, Corrour Estate (located in East Lochaber with the Scottish Highlands) celebrated the completion of their run of river hydro development on the Estate with the grand opening celebration being held at the Ghuilbinn Hydro Power Station.

Three run of river hydro schemes were built between 2013 and 2015, each with a Gilkes turbine. In 2018, the Ghuilbinn scheme was completed, producing more electrical output than all other three schemes combined. The Ghuilbinn installation consists of four Gilkes Francis turbines, each with a 666kW capacity. The Estate now has a total installed capacity of 5.3MW of hydropower.

Gilkes are very proud to have been involved in the development of these schemes and enjoyed being part of the Estate's celebration.
