KAMES HYDRO PROJECT STARTS GENERATING
24th April 2015
Gilkes Energy are delighted to announce that the Kames Hydro Project started generating in April.
The 900kW project is located on land managed by Forestry Commission Scotland on the south shore of Loch Awe, Argyll, Western Scotland. It is the first of a number of projects currently under construction on the National Forest Estate.
Planning permission and the SEPA water-use license were received in late 2013. After a detailed procurement and financial close process, construction started in earnest in May 2014.
The scheme will use a Twin Jet Pelton Turbine supplied by Gilkes Hydro.
