Gilkes has many years of experience and millions of trouble free hours of operation behind its designs of centrifugal lubricating oil pumps for Gas and Steam Turbine markets.
STEAM TURBINES
History: 1958 saw the first Gilkes steam turbine manufactured to pressurise a Main Oil Pump (MOP) suction, followed closely by the Gilkes Booster Pump Turbine (BPT) and from 1963 AC / DC motor driven Flushing pumps.
Booster Pump Turbine Application: A centrifugal MOP is not self-priming and requires a pressurised suction as well as a guaranteed pressurised oil supply for cooling and lubrication of the generator shaft seals, governor and main bearings.
Main Oil Pump Application: Generates the main flow of oil
AC+DC Pumps Application: Supports the oil system during run up & run down of the steam turbine.
We have supplied complete pump assemblies & spares to 168 steam power stations world wide. The pump assemblies can be either replacements or site upgrades providing another 20 – 30 years operation. Generating capacity per Steam Turbine set is now up to 1000MW
GAS TURBINES
History: In 1970 we supplied our first Fuel Forwarding pumps, later years saw us supply complete AC / DC vertical shaft lubricating Oil Pumps for 30kW + gas turbine applications. In 2000, we began selling small vertical AC / DC lube pumps to GE Power Generation for their Frame 7 gas turbines.
We have supplied complete pump assemblies & spares to 150 gas power stations world wide. We have sold 185 modules of various designs many using our own oil pumps.
Features: All Gilkes lubricating oil pumps feature double shrouded centrifugal impellers and are selected to achieve the highest efficiency and optimum performance.
Impellers are dynamically/statically balanced dependent on application and/or client’s preference.
Full mechanical/chemical analysis test certificates can be supplied.
Gilkes have a 2400 US gallon test tank containing an ISO VG32 oil allowing pumps to be fully performance tested if required. Including MOP (main oil pump) / BPT (booster pump turbine) closed loop performance test.
