After successful completion of their first 100kW
scheme Abernethy Trust (Ardgour) purchased a second Gilkes water turbine for a new scheme. The first scheme, which was installed and commissioned by Gilkes in 2010. Energy generated by the Gilkes equipment is exported to the national grid and provides the Trust with a valuable new revenue stream.
scheme, uses a Gilkes Compact Turgo turbine and generates 50kW of electrical power. The Trust has now ordered a third turbine from Gilkes which is due to be commissioned in 2014. This will then increase
the out put of the second scheme to 100kW. The turbine design uses proven and patented Gilkes Turgo technology which is designed to optimise the sub 100kW market and provides customers, like Abernethy Trust, with a
cost effective, reliable solution, without sacrificing the Gilkes high standards of quality which has served the UK’s hydro potential for over 160 years.
Scope of Supply
7.5” Compact Turgo, runner, turbine bearing housing, spear valve, branch pipe, actuation, deflector assembly, shims and tools, Induction Generator, Inlet Pipework, Main inlet valve, Grid Connection panel, installation & commissioning.
