Reporting to the Quality Manager, a great opportunity is available in the Hydroelectric turbine division for an experienced Quality Engineer to take on a lead role in Hydropower manufacture.
As Quality Engineer of the Hydro manufacturing facility, you will be responsible for providing Quality Engineering support to Hydro Operations and Supply Chain Management. This is an interesting role for any experienced quality professional that comes from a mechanical engineering background in either machining, fabrications / assy.
As a Quality Engineer your skills and Qualification will include:
Reporting to the Sourcing Manager – Pumps, the function of the job is to communicate Gilkes Quality requirement to the supply base and work with them to ensure only Quality parts are delivered, thus reducing the cost of supplier quality.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
Job Scope:The Supplier Quality Engineer plays a crucial role in promoting and implementing quality improvement. The use of data to identify process improvement is necessary.
The jobholder’s ability to interface with internal and external contacts in a confident and positive way is important.
Skills, Experience & Knowledge:
This post would suit anyone with a keen interest in, or wishing to have a career in Quality or Sourcing/ Supply chain.
The above duties are what we would expect from the successful candidate. Including but not limited to, Experience of Supplier management / purchasing, Casting techniques / processes, Quality, Six Sigma, Auditing, TS 16949, APQP core tools such as PFMEA, Control plans etc. would be desirable.

(a) Experienced mechanical or electrical engineers who are either BTech, HND/HNC or Degree qualified who are looking to further their career in engineering. Gilkes offer the opportunity of a variety of responsibilities, interesting projects, further training and international travel.
(b) Engineering (electrical, mechanical or electronic) undergraduates in their final year at university. Gilkes will welcome approaches from undergraduates who are interested in pursuing a career in engineering. Gilkes offers interesting projects, the potential (and encouragement) for further training and development and will push the individual to attain Chartered status. (c) Those at school or college undertaking either ‘A' levels, BTech or HND/HNC qualification in engineering, mathematics or science subjects. Gilkes is looking to recruit 17 or 18 year olds nearing the end of their secondary education and interested in a career in engineering.
Gilkes will provide the appropriate training and support to enable the individuals to develop as engineers with the ultimate objective of achieving Chartered status.
