Main Duties & Responsibilities
The Supplier Quality Engineer plays a crucial role in promoting and implementing quality improvement. The jobholder’s ability to interface with internal and external contacts in a confident and positive way is important.
Skills, Experience & Knowledge
The jobholder should be A level or NVQ level III or IV qualified with at least 2 years job specific experience. Specialist knowledge of APQP, FMEA, PPAP and G8D is essential as is a good knowledge of ISO 9001:2008 & TS16949:2009
Good knowledge of foundry processes and techniques is desirable as is an ability to understand basic metallurgy with the willingness to expand on this knowledge
A working knowledge of popular Microsoft software such as Excel, Word and PowerPoint is vital as well as statistical software such as MiniTab.
The job requires planning and reactive prioritising, as well as the collection, analysis and presentation of data to facilitate process/product improvement.
Willingness to travel is a pre-requisite.

Reporting to the Quality Manager, a great opportunity is available in the Engine Cooling Pumps division for an experienced Quality Engineer to take on a key role in engine pump manufacture.
As one of the Quality Engineers of the ECP manufacturing facility, you will be responsible for providing Quality Engineering support to our customer base, production operations and other key functional teams. This is an interesting role for any experienced quality professional that comes from a mechanical engineering background in either machining or assy.

(a) Experienced mechanical or electrical engineers who are either BTech, HND/HNC or Degree qualified who are looking to further their career in engineering. Gilkes offer the opportunity of a variety of responsibilities, interesting projects, further training and international travel.
(b) Engineering (electrical, mechanical or electronic) undergraduates in their final year at university. Gilkes will welcome approaches from undergraduates who are interested in pursuing a career in engineering. Gilkes offers interesting projects, the potential (and encouragement) for further training and development and will push the individual to attain Chartered status. (c) Those at school or college undertaking either ‘A' levels, BTech or HND/HNC qualification in engineering, mathematics or science subjects. Gilkes is looking to recruit 17 or 18 year olds nearing the end of their secondary education and interested in a career in engineering.
Gilkes will provide the appropriate training and support to enable the individuals to develop as engineers with the ultimate objective of achieving Chartered status.
